Southwest Monsoon May Withdraw By Mid-Oct, Earliest Exit Since 2011

Times of India · india

India's southwest monsoon is poised for one of its earliest withdrawals since 2011, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Skymet forecasting its exit from the entire country around. This early departure coincides with the establishment of the northeast monsoon over southern India, bringing scattered to widespread rainfall to peninsular regions. While south India anticipates above-normal rainfall, northwest, east, and northeast India are expected to receive below-normal precipitation. The monsoon began its retreat and has already withdrawn from northern, western, and central India.
