Cadence Pitches Homegrown EDA Industry for India's Chip Design Ambitions
Business Standard · business
Cadence Design Systems is urging the Indian government to foster a domestic electronic design automation (EDA) industry to bolster its semiconductor ambitions. Currently, Indian firms import most EDA software, a global market worth billions. Cadence India MD Alok Jain stated that a balanced ecosystem, including homegrown EDA tools, is crucial for India to become a major global semiconductor player. He suggested models like pay-per-use or cloud-based tools to address the high cost of EDA software for startups. Jain also highlighted the need for senior-level talent in the country.
