Activist Mugilan Arrested For Non-Appearance In Jallikattu Case Hearings

Environmental activist R S Mugilan was arrested by Madurai district CB-CID police in Erode for failing to appear in court for hearings related to a 2017 jallikattu protest case. He had cited medical reasons for his absence over the past three months, leading to a non-bailable warrant. Mugilan was later granted bail on health grounds by a judicial magistrate in Madurai. He alleged illegal detention and denial of communication with his lawyers following his arrest.

पर्यावरण कार्यकर्ता आर एस मुगलन को मदुरै जिला सीबी-सीआईडी पुलिस ने इरोड से 2017 के जल्लीकट्टू विरोध मामले की सुनवाई में अदालत में पेश न होने के कारण गिरफ्तार किया। पिछले तीन महीनों से अपनी अनुपस्थिति के लिए उन्होंने मेडिकल कारणों का हवाला दिया था, जिसके चलते गैर-जमानती वारंट जारी हुआ था। बाद में मदुरै में एक न्यायिक मजिस्ट्रेट ने स्वास्थ्य कारणों से मुगलन को जमानत दे दी। उन्होंने अपनी गिरफ्तारी के बाद अवैध हिरासत और अपने वकीलों से संपर्क से वंचित करने का आरोप लगाया।
