The Supreme Court has directed the Election Commission to deliver its verdict on the Trinamool Congress's name and symbol dispute within four months. This decision comes in response to a petition filed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, seeking resolution to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the party's identity. The Election Commission had initially requested six months to decide the sensitive matter. However, the Supreme Court rejected this plea, imposing a strict four-month deadline for the final decision.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने चुनाव आयोग को तृणमूल कांग्रेस के नाम और प्रतीक विवाद पर चार महीने के अंदर अपना फैसला सुनाने का निर्देश दिया है। यह फैसला पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी द्वारा दायर एक याचिका के जवाब में आया है, जिसमें पार्टी की पहचान को लेकर चल रही अनिश्चितता को दूर करने की मांग की गई थी। चुनाव आयोग ने शुरू में इस संवेदनशील मामले पर निर्णय लेने के लिए छह महीने का समय मांगा था। हालांकि, सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने इस अनुरोध को खारिज कर दिया और अंतिम निर्णय के लिए चार महीने की सख्त समय सीमा तय की।
