Nandigram Police Station Officer Replaced Day Before Bypoll

The Election Commission has replaced the officer-in-charge of the Nandigram police station just one day before the West Bengal bypoll. Debashis Sarkar will take over from Ajay Kumar Mishra, who was allegedly close to the ruling party. Opposition parties had lodged complaints with the EC regarding Mishra's impartiality. Sarkar, currently the traffic inspector in Tamluk, stated he had only heard about the change and was awaiting formal orders. Polling is scheduled for October 6, with counting on October 9.

चुनाव आयोग ने पश्चिम बंगाल उपचुनाव से ठीक एक दिन पहले नंदीग्राम पुलिस स्टेशन के प्रभारी अधिकारी को बदल दिया है। अजय कुमार मिश्रा, जो कथित तौर पर सत्तारूढ़ दल के करीब थे, उनकी जगह देबाशीष सरकार लेंगे। विपक्षी दलों ने मिश्रा की निष्पक्षता को लेकर चुनाव आयोग से शिकायतें की थीं। सरकार, जो वर्तमान में तामलुक में यातायात निरीक्षक हैं, ने कहा कि उन्होंने केवल बदलाव के बारे में सुना है और औपचारिक आदेशों का इंतजार कर रहे हैं। मतदान 6 अक्टूबर को होना है, और मतगणना 9 अक्टूबर को होगी।
