Following a student's suicide, IIT Bombay is revising its hostel policy. Previously, senior students received single rooms, but the institute now plans to implement a twin-sharing model for all students in future hostels. This change aims to combat student loneliness and depression by ensuring they have a roommate for emotional support. Additionally, counseling services have been expanded with increased hours, and the institute will cover the full cost of external professional counseling.
