NHAI Mandates Stricter Tech-Led Monitoring for Highway Builders

Business Standard · business

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has directed highway developers to implement advanced digital monitoring frameworks for maintenance and defect identification. This system will utilize technology like webcams and drone surveys, with AI-enabled cameras on patrol vehicles detecting deficiencies for real-time redressal within three days. Developers are also tasked with fixing issues like potholes and rutting within three months and preparing documentary films of completed projects. The National Highways Builders Federation acknowledged technology's potential but stressed the need for realistic bidding and adequate payments to meet stringent requirements.
