The Indian government, in consultation with the Ladakh administration, has officially standardised the names of 28 geographical features in the Union Territory. These include 11 peaks, five mountains, six land areas, two glaciers, two passes, one valley, one river, one lake, and one water body. The move aims to ensure accurate recognition and public awareness of these locations on official Survey of India maps. This standardisation follows similar actions in Arunachal Pradesh amidst ongoing border tensions.
