Diwali season rush at post offices is being hampered by frequent server disruptions, causing delays in processing parcels and customer details. Repeated damage to BSNL's underground cables during road excavation and widening work is identified as the primary cause of these connectivity issues. Postal staff are using dongles as an alternative, but these offer limited relief when the main postal server is also slow. BSNL officials cite contractors' use of heavy machinery without accounting for old underground lines, some laid 20-25 years ago, as a recurring problem.
