Andhra Pradesh is fully prepared for local body elections, with the state government awaiting a Supreme Court verdict on Backward Classes (BC) reservations. Minister Ponguru Narayana stated that any further delay could cost the state approximately ₹12,000 crore in funds from the 16th Finance Commission. He accused the YSR Congress Party of obstructing the election process, recalling similar fund deprivation for urban local bodies under the previous government. The reorganisation of wards and divisions also falls under the State Election Commission's purview.

आंध्र प्रदेश स्थानीय निकाय चुनावों के लिए पूरी तरह तैयार है। राज्य सरकार पिछड़ा वर्ग (बीसी) आरक्षण पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट के फैसले का इंतजार कर रही है। मंत्री पोंगुरु नारायण ने कहा कि किसी भी और देरी से राज्य को 16वें वित्त आयोग से मिलने वाले फंड में लगभग ₹12,000 करोड़ का नुकसान हो सकता है। उन्होंने वाईएसआर कांग्रेस पार्टी पर चुनाव प्रक्रिया में बाधा डालने का आरोप लगाया और पिछली सरकार के तहत शहरी स्थानीय निकायों के लिए इसी तरह के फंड की कमी को याद किया। वार्डों और डिवीजनों का पुनर्गठन भी राज्य चुनाव आयोग के अधिकार क्षेत्र में आता है।
