France Suggests Google Fines Fund EU Budget

France's Europe Minister Benjamin Haddad proposed on Tuesday that the European Union should utilize billions of euros in fines levied against Google to reduce member states' contributions to the EU budget. Haddad stated that this new revenue source, amounting to €4.6 billion, should automatically lower contributions for all member nations. The EU is currently negotiating its budget for the 2028-2034 period, with capitals divided on spending priorities. Google has faced significant penalties, totaling €10.38 billion over nearly two decades for anti-competitive practices.
