Husband's Girlfriend Not Liable For Cruelty To Wife

The Karnataka High Court has ruled that a husband's girlfriend cannot be accused of cruelty or intimidation towards the wife under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Justice M Nagaprasanna quashed criminal proceedings against a woman accused by her husband's wife of cruelty under Section 85 of the BNS. The court cited a Supreme Court decision stating a paramour cannot be considered a relative.

कर्नाटक हाई कोर्ट ने कहा है कि पति की प्रेमिका पर पत्नी के प्रति क्रूरता या धमकी का आरोप नहीं लगाया जा सकता। जस्टिस एम नागप्रसन्ना ने भारतीय न्याय संहिता (BNS) की धारा 85 के तहत एक महिला के खिलाफ आपराधिक कार्यवाही रद्द कर दी। कोर्ट ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट के एक फैसले का हवाला दिया, जिसमें कहा गया था कि प्रेमिका को रिश्तेदार नहीं माना जा सकता।
