India Launches Maritime Security Initiative Amid Attacks

India has launched a new international cooperation initiative on maritime security in New York, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar highlighting the increasing attacks on commercial shipping and seafarers. India and Liberia co-initiated the 'Group of Friends on Safety and Security of Shipping and Seafarers' (GoF on S4). Jaishankar noted that these attacks, including recent incidents in the Gulf of Oman and the Black Sea, are no longer exceptions and disrupt global trade. He also mentioned India's proposal for an emergency assistance network for seafarers.

न्यूयॉर्क में भारत ने समुद्री सुरक्षा पर एक नई अंतरराष्ट्रीय पहल शुरू की है। विदेश मंत्री एस. जयशंकर ने कहा कि जहाजों और नाविकों पर हमले बढ़ रहे हैं। भारत और लाइबेरिया ने मिलकर 'ग्रुप ऑफ फ्रेंड्स ऑन सेफ्टी एंड सिक्योरिटी ऑफ शिपिंग एंड सीफेरर्स' (GoF on S4) शुरू किया है। जयशंकर ने बताया कि ये हमले अब आम हो गए हैं और वैश्विक व्यापार को बाधित कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने नाविकों के लिए आपातकालीन सहायता नेटवर्क का भी प्रस्ताव दिया।
