The Japanese yen strengthened against the dollar on Tuesday, reversing a two-day decline. This surge followed an auction of 20-year Japanese government bonds that attracted record demand, with bids exceeding the offered amount by 5.84 times. The strong auction indicates returning institutional investment and positions Japanese bonds as a relative safe haven amid European political and fiscal instability. Meanwhile, the euro found some relief, and other currencies like the British pound and Australian dollar also saw gains against the weakening US dollar.
