Villupuram Intensifies Drive Against Invasive Trees

Villupuram district administration is intensifying efforts to remove invasive seemai karuvelam trees from waterbodies and government lands. This initiative follows directions from the Madras High Court to protect the environment and groundwater resources. The Water Resources Department has already cleared 74 waterbodies, with work ongoing in four more. The Rural Development Department is also actively involved in removing the invasive species from its lands and water bodies across the district.

विल्लुपुरम में आक्रामक पेड़ों के खिलाफ अभियान तेज

विल्लुपुरम जिला प्रशासन पानी के स्रोतों और सरकारी ज़मीनों से सीमई करूवेलम पेड़ों को हटाने के लिए तेज़ी से काम कर रहा है। यह मद्रास हाई कोर्ट के पर्यावरण और भूजल बचाने के निर्देशों के बाद हो रहा है। जल संसाधन विभाग 74 जगहों से ये पेड़ हटा चुका है और चार जगहों पर काम चल रहा है। ग्रामीण विकास विभाग भी ज़िलों की ज़मीनों और तालाबों से इन पेड़ों को हटाने में लगा है।
