Olive Oil Before Carbs May Curb Blood Sugar Spikes, Kyoto University Study Finds
Times of India · science
A new study from Kyoto University suggests that eating olive oil before carbohydrates may help curb blood sugar spikes. Researchers found that mice given olive oil before glucose experienced a smaller early rise in blood sugar compared to those given glucose first. This effect was observed even in mice with type 2 diabetes and impaired insulin secretion. The findings indicate that the timing of fat intake can influence blood sugar regulation by slowing gastric emptying and engaging a coordinated hormone-nerve response.
