Prem Kamasani, an Indian-American high school student, founded BallBack, a nonprofit organization dedicated to recycling and reusing discarded tennis balls. Witnessing hundreds of balls being thrown away, Kamasani established a nationwide network that collects used balls from schools and clubs. These balls are then processed into materials for new court surfaces and playgrounds, or donated to youth programs and animal shelters. BallBack has successfully recycled or repurposed over 160,000 tennis balls across 16 states, with 31 student chapter leaders and over 310 members.
