Israeli Election Results: Netanyahu Bloc Falls Short of Majority After All Votes Counted

DW World · world

Following the final vote count in Israel's election, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud-led bloc secured 53 seats, while the anti-Netanyahu bloc, led by Gadi Eisenkot, obtained 48 seats. Neither grouping achieved the 61 seats required for a majority, indicating that challenging coalition talks lie ahead. The election saw the highest turnout in decades, and the formation of a stable government now depends on complex negotiations, potentially involving Arab-Israeli parties. The outcome leaves the path to forming a working coalition uncertain.
