The Better India · lifestyle

India has released two male Great Indian Bustards into Rajasthan's Desert National Park as part of a nearly decade-long conservation effort. These birds were raised through a conservation-breeding program, marking the first major test of returning captive-bred individuals to their natural habitat. The program, involving the Wildlife Institute of India and the Rajasthan Forest Department, aims to re-establish the critically endangered species. The release signifies a new phase in the ambitious plan to ensure the GIB's survival in the wild.
