Acclaimed Indian artist Jogen Chowdhury passed away on Sunday at the age of 87 after a two-year battle with cancer. Known for his distinctive distorted figures and use of crosshatching, Chowdhury was a prolific artist across various mediums including sketching, lithographs, and watercolors. Beyond his artistic practice, he was also an arts administrator, academician, and politician, serving in the Rajya Sabha. His contributions significantly shaped India's art landscape, with peers remembering his collaborative spirit and childlike innocence. Chowdhury also established the Jogen Chowdhury Centre for Arts in Kolkata.

जाने-माने भारतीय कलाकार जोगीन चौधरी का रविवार को 87 साल की उम्र में कैंसर से दो साल की लड़ाई के बाद निधन हो गया। अपनी विशिष्ट विकृत आकृतियों और क्रॉस-हचिंग के उपयोग के लिए जाने जाने वाले चौधरी स्केचिंग, लिथोग्राफ और वॉटरकलर सहित विभिन्न माध्यमों में एक विपुल कलाकार थे। अपनी कलात्मक प्रथा से परे, वह एक कला प्रशासक, शिक्षाविद और राजनीतिज्ञ भी थे, जिन्होंने राज्यसभा में सेवा की। उनके योगदान ने भारत के कला परिदृश्य को महत्वपूर्ण रूप से आकार दिया, और उनके साथियों ने उनकी सहयोगात्मक भावना और बचपनापन को याद किया। चौधरी ने कोलकाता में जोगीन चौधरी सेंटर फॉर आर्ट्स की भी स्थापना की।
