पटना हाईकोर्ट ने फैसला सुनाया है कि जिलाधिकारियों समेत प्रशासनिक अधिकारियों के पास लोगों या उनके वकीलों के खिलाफ अवमानना की कार्यवाही शुरू करने का अधिकार नहीं है। एक सिंगल बेंच ने साफ किया कि अवमानना के लिए सज़ा देने का अधिकार सिर्फ Supreme Court और High Courts के पास है। यह फैसला वकील Sushant Praveer की याचिका पर आया, जिसमें उन्होंने जिला मजिस्ट्रेट द्वारा जारी अवमानना नोटिस को रद्द कर दिया था। इस फैसले से प्रशासनिक अधिकारियों द्वारा किए जाने वाले अर्ध-न्यायिक कार्यों की सीमाएं तय हो गई हैं।
