UP CEO Seeks Explanation From DEOs Over 10,470 Faulty Voter Approvals

Times of India · politics

Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa has demanded explanations from the current and former District Election Officers of Pilibhit regarding their oversight. This action follows an inquiry that uncovered 10,470 erroneous voter-related forms approved in the Pilibhit assembly constituency. The inquiry was prompted by complaints of electors' details being mismatched on their EPIC cards. Between May 31 and August 29, 2026, 13,779 faulty forms were entered, with 10,470 being approved, representing nearly 76% of these errors. Rinwa stated the lapses were deliberate and criminal, not mere negligence.
