Indian stock markets experienced a significant crash at the beginning of October, leading to substantial investor losses. The BSE Sensex opened lower and the Nifty also saw a decline. Within minutes of trading, investors lost approximately ₹8.57 lakh crore as the market capitalization dropped. This downturn is attributed to heavy selling by foreign institutional investors (FIIs), a sharp fall in the Indian Rupee against the US Dollar, and a surge in the India VIX, a measure of market volatility and fear.
