Karnataka FDA To Withdraw Order On Drug Price Disclosure For Hospitals

Times of India · health

FDA is set to withdraw its recent order mandating hospitals and pharmacies to disclose medicine pricing details. The order, which required itemised bills listing landing costs, MRP, and patient charges, will be recalled within days. This decision stems from a related Supreme Court case and the NPPA regulatory authority. The FDA had previously flagged significant price discrepancies between procurement costs and patient billing for medicines and medical devices, prompting calls for greater scrutiny.
