UPSC AIR 2 Holder Anmol Bedi Warns Pakistan Against Nuclear Blackmail at UN

Anmol Sher Singh Bedi, who secured AIR 2 in UPSC 2016 and chose IFS over IAS, has warned Pakistan against using nuclear weapons for political pressure at the UN. As India's Senior Adviser for Disarmament in Geneva, Bedi stated that India will not yield to nuclear blackmail and will respond fittingly to any terrorist attack. He emphasized that nuclear weapons should not be routine instruments of statecraft, cautioning against escalation risks. Bedi cited India's measured response to the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack as an example of self-defence.

UPSC 2016 में AIR 2 लाने वाले अनमोल शेर सिंह बेदी, जिन्होंने IAS की जगह IFS चुना, ने UN में पाकिस्तान को राजनीतिक दबाव के लिए परमाणु हथियारों का इस्तेमाल करने के खिलाफ चेतावनी दी है। जिनेवा में भारत के वरिष्ठ सलाहकार (निरस्त्रीकरण) के तौर पर बेदी ने कहा कि भारत परमाणु ब्लैकमेल के आगे नहीं झुकेगा और किसी भी आतंकवादी हमले का उचित जवाब देगा। उन्होंने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि परमाणु हथियारों को कूटनीति के सामान्य साधन नहीं बनाया जाना चाहिए, और उन्होंने तनाव बढ़ने के जोखिमों के प्रति आगाह किया। बेदी ने अप्रैल 2025 के पहलगाम आतंकवादी हमले पर भारत की संयमित प्रतिक्रिया को आत्मरक्षा के उदाहरण के तौर पर उद्धृत किया।
