ED Raids 16 Locations in Bengal & Assam Over Foreign Areca Nut Smuggling

ED has initiated search operations at 16 locations across Assam and West Bengal in connection with a money laundering case involving the alleged smuggling of foreign-origin areca nuts. The action targets a syndicate accused of smuggling areca nuts into India via the India-Myanmar border. The investigation is based on 11 FIRs filed by Assam and West Bengal police. The syndicate allegedly imported areca nuts from Indonesia, Thailand, and Myanmar, routing them through Mizoram before distributing them across India.

ईडी ने विदेशी मूल की सुपारी की कथित तस्करी से जुड़े मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग मामले में असम और पश्चिम बंगाल में 16 ठिकानों पर तलाशी अभियान शुरू किया है। यह कार्रवाई भारत-म्यांमार सीमा के रास्ते सुपारी की तस्करी करने वाले एक सिंडिकेट को निशाना बना रही है। यह जांच असम और पश्चिम बंगाल पुलिस द्वारा दर्ज की गई 11 FIR पर आधारित है। सिंडिकेट पर इंडोनेशिया, थाईलैंड और म्यांमार से सुपारी आयात करने और इसे मिजोरम के रास्ते भारत में भेजने का आरोप है।
