Trichy Corporation Deploys Oil Balls to Combat Mosquito Menace

The Trichy corporation has initiated a new anti-larval measure to combat the persistent mosquito menace, especially in vacant plots where stagnant water breeds mosquitoes. Workers are dropping oil-soaked sawdust balls into inundated sites. This method creates an oil film on the water's surface, suffocating mosquito larvae and preventing them from developing into adult mosquitoes. The initiative aims to address complaints from residents experiencing increased mosquito activity following recent rains. Officials are targeting approximately 20,000 vacant plots across the city to curb the breeding grounds.
