A wealthy British Indian businessman, Sukhjit Singh Ghuman, and his ex-wife, Kiranjit Ghuman, are contesting their extradition to the US to face charges of smuggling unapproved and expired cancer drugs from India into the US. The couple allegedly defrauded US health insurance plans like Medicare of millions of dollars between 2019 and 2023. They are accused of billing insurance providers for more expensive FDA-approved drugs while administering cheaper, unapproved ones to patients without their knowledge.
