Khairatabad Election Notification Delayed by Election Commission Amidst Pending Poll Petition

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will not notify the Khairatabad assembly constituency election until a pending election petition is adjudicated. This decision was informed to the High Court by the ECI's standing counsel. The petition was filed by ex-corporator P. Vijaya Reddy, challenging the 2023 election results. The High Court had previously disqualified BRS MLA Danam Nagender, declaring the seat vacant. Reddy argues that a by-election cannot be notified while her election petition, seeking to declare her the winner, is still pending.

चुनाव आयोग (ECI) खैरातबाद विधानसभा सीट के चुनाव की अधिसूचना तब तक जारी नहीं करेगा जब तक कि एक लंबित चुनाव याचिका का फैसला नहीं हो जाता। ECI के स्थायी वकील ने हाई कोर्ट को इस फैसले की जानकारी दी। यह याचिका पूर्व कॉर्पोरेटर पी. विजया रेड्डी ने 2023 के चुनाव नतीजों को चुनौती देते हुए दायर की थी। हाई कोर्ट ने पहले बीआरएस विधायक दानम नागेंद्र को अयोग्य ठहराकर सीट खाली घोषित कर दी थी। रेड्डी का कहना है कि जब तक उनकी चुनाव याचिका लंबित है, जिसमें उन्हें विजेता घोषित करने की मांग की गई है, तब तक उपचुनाव की अधिसूचना जारी नहीं की जा सकती।
