Himachal HC Bans Commercial Activity Near Renuka Lake

The Himachal Pradesh high court has prohibited commercial activities within 100 metres of Renuka Ji Lake and Parshuram Tal to protect the ecologically fragile area. Hearing a public interest litigation, the court issued 12 directions for the upcoming Renuka Ji fair, scheduled from November 19 to 24. Commercial activities must be confined to the designated Mela Ground, with no stalls near the water bodies. The court noted significant plastic waste accumulation and pollution from previous fairs, directing authorities to improve sanitation and waste management for the expected 10,000 visitors.

हिमाचल प्रदेश हाई कोर्ट ने पारिस्थितिक रूप से नाजुक क्षेत्र की सुरक्षा के लिए रेणुका जी झील और परशुराम ताल के 100 मीटर के दायरे में व्यावसायिक गतिविधियों पर रोक लगा दी है। एक जनहित याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुए, अदालत ने 19 से 24 नवंबर तक होने वाले आगामी रेणुका जी मेले के लिए 12 निर्देश जारी किए। व्यावसायिक गतिविधियों को निर्दिष्ट मेला ग्राउंड तक सीमित रखना होगा, जल निकायों के पास कोई स्टॉल नहीं लगेगा। अदालत ने पिछले मेलों से प्लास्टिक कचरे के संचय और प्रदूषण पर ध्यान दिया, और 10,000 अपेक्षित आगंतुकों के लिए स्वच्छता और अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन में सुधार का निर्देश दिया।
