केंद्रीय शिक्षा मंत्रालय ने IIIT रांची के हॉस्टल में एक छात्र की मौत की जांच के लिए तीन-सदस्यीय समिति का गठन किया है। दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के साउथ कैंपस की निदेशक प्रोफेसर रजनी अब्बी की अध्यक्षता वाली इस समिति में एक वरिष्ठ मनोचिकित्सक और शिक्षा मंत्रालय के एक अधिकारी भी शामिल होंगे। इसके दायरे में घटना की परिस्थितियों की जांच करना, संस्थागत सहायता प्रणालियों का आकलन करना और भविष्य में ऐसी घटनाओं को रोकने के उपायों की सिफारिश करना शामिल है। इस बीच, विरोध प्रदर्शन कर रहे छात्र संस्थान के निदेशक को हटाने की मांग कर रहे हैं, जो बुनियादी सुविधाएं प्रदान करने और शिकायतों के समाधान में प्रशासनिक लापरवाही का हवाला दे रहे हैं।
