Kerala to Establish Yards in Every Taluk for Seized Vehicles

Kerala's transport minister C.P. John announced plans to establish yards in every taluk to store vehicles seized for non-payment of taxes. This initiative, introduced via the Kerala Motor Vehicles Tax Amendment Bill, 2026, aims to address the current lack of adequate facilities for impounded vehicles. The new law will require vehicle owners to pay transportation and parking fees before their vehicles are released, even after tax dues are settled. The government stated this system will not create additional financial burdens.
