US to turn radioactive waste into glass

The US is tackling its Cold War radioactive waste legacy at the Hanford Site. Experts will use vitrification to transform millions of gallons of hazardous material into glass for safer storage. The Vit Plant has begun processing actual nuclear waste, aiming to produce 4.2 metric tons of glass daily. This process is crucial for managing the long-term risks associated with nuclear waste.
