Researchers at Columbia University have developed a method to predict Alzheimer's symptom onset years in advance using a combination of blood and genetic tests. The study, published in The Lancet Neurology, analyzed data from 8,500 participants. Combining a blood test for the p-tau217 biomarker with a genetic test for the APOE gene variant can forecast when individuals at high risk will develop symptoms.
