Jains move Gujarat HC for worship rights at Bharuch mosque

Five petitioners have approached the Gujarat High Court seeking the right to worship and protection for an idol of Lord Mallinath, the 19th Jain Tirthankar, found in the basement of the 14th-century Bharuch Jami Masjid. The idol was reportedly discovered during an inspection earlier this year, sparking a controversy. The petitioners fear the idol might be destroyed amid rising communal tension and have urged authorities to ensure its safety. The mosque is a protected monument of national importance. The court has scheduled further hearings for Friday.

पांच याचिकाकर्ताओं ने गुजरात उच्च न्यायालय का रुख किया है और भरूच जामी मस्जिद की 14वीं सदी की मस्जिद के तहखाने में मिली 19वीं जैन तीर्थंकर भगवान मल्लिनाथ की मूर्ति के लिए पूजा के अधिकार और सुरक्षा की मांग की है। कथित तौर पर इस साल की शुरुआत में एक निरीक्षण के दौरान मूर्ति का पता चला था, जिससे विवाद खड़ा हो गया था। याचिकाकर्ताओं को डर है कि सांप्रदायिक तनाव बढ़ने के बीच मूर्ति नष्ट हो सकती है और उन्होंने अधिकारियों से इसकी सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने का आग्रह किया है। यह मस्जिद राष्ट्रीय महत्व का एक संरक्षित स्मारक है। अदालत ने शुक्रवार को आगे की सुनवाई निर्धारित की है।
