DGCA to Enforce Strict Pilot Rest Rules From March 2027

Hindustan Times · india

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has reportedly informed airlines that no further relaxations to pilot duty and rest rules will be permitted from March 2027. This marks the full implementation of Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL). Pilots have advocated for these fatigue norms since 2012, with the Delhi High Court closing the case in April 2025 after the DGCA committed to phasing in the rules. Despite previous deferrals, the regulator is expected to enforce the regulations without extensions, as tired pilots pose significant safety risks.
