RBI Governor Warns Today's Financial Resilience May Not Guarantee Tomorrow's Immunity

Reserve Bank of India Governor Sanjay Malhotra urged increased vigilance over India's financial system, stating that current resilience does not ensure future immunity. He noted that while India has enjoyed a long period of financial stability with strong balance sheets, prolonged stability can encourage risk-taking. Malhotra cautioned that future financial crises might originate outside the financial system, triggered by geopolitical events or cyberattacks. He stressed the need for enhanced scenario analysis and granular data to assess interconnected risks across banks, non-bank institutions, and technological infrastructure.

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक के गवर्नर संजय मल्होत्रा ने भारत की वित्तीय प्रणाली पर बढ़ी हुई सतर्कता का आग्रह किया, यह कहते हुए कि वर्तमान लचीलापन भविष्य की प्रतिरक्षा सुनिश्चित नहीं करता है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत ने मजबूत बैलेंस शीट के साथ वित्तीय स्थिरता की लंबी अवधि का आनंद लिया है, लेकिन लंबे समय तक स्थिरता जोखिम लेने को प्रोत्साहित कर सकती है। मल्होत्रा ने चेतावनी दी कि भविष्य के वित्तीय संकट वित्तीय प्रणाली के बाहर उत्पन्न हो सकते हैं, जो भू-राजनीतिक घटनाओं या साइबर हमलों से प्रेरित होंगे। उन्होंने बैंकों, गैर-बैंक संस्थानों और तकनीकी बुनियादी ढांचे में परस्पर जुड़े जोखिमों का आकलन करने के लिए उन्नत परिदृश्य विश्लेषण और दानेदार डेटा की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया।
