India is nearing final approval for a defense project exceeding ₹80,000 crore to enhance its underwater capabilities. This initiative will involve building six advanced conventional submarines in India in partnership with Germany. The proposal also includes considering the construction of three additional Scorpene submarines. These new submarines will be built under the long-pending Project-75(I), with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and German company TKMS as proposed partners. The project is in its final stages, awaiting a final decision from the competent authority.
