India's National Council of Educational Research and Training has released a new social science textbook for Class 9 students. The book, titled 'Understanding Society: India and Beyond (Part 2)', removes chapters on European revolutions. It instead prioritizes medieval Indian history, focusing on "Resistance and Resilience" against foreign invasions. The textbook details historical conflicts and state oppressions, including the Mughal state's actions against Sikh gurus and regional uprisings like the Jat Uprising of 1669. This shift in curriculum aims to reshape historical narratives presented to students.

National Council of Educational Research and Training
