A stampede at Kolkata's Chore Bagan Durga Puja pandal on Saturday evening killed 19 people. Preliminary reports suggest a combination of factors, including heavy rain driving devotees inside, a narrow bylane with restricted entry and exit gates, and a microphone announcement warning of a potential structural collapse, contributed to the tragedy. The incident occurred around 7:30 PM at a popular venue in north Kolkata. Seven arrests have been made, and the Chief Minister has ordered a Special Investigation Team to probe the disaster.

शनिवार शाम कोलकाता के कोर बागान दुर्गा पूजा पंडाल में भगदड़ मचने से 19 लोगों की मौत हो गई। शुरुआती रिपोर्टों के मुताबिक, भारी बारिश के कारण श्रद्धालु अंदर आ गए, एक संकरी गली जिसमें आने-जाने के गेट सीमित थे, और एक माइक्रोफोन की घोषणा जिसमें ढांचा गिरने की चेतावनी दी गई थी, इन सबने मिलकर इस त्रासदी को अंजाम दिया। यह घटना उत्तर कोलकाता के एक लोकप्रिय स्थल पर शाम करीब 7:30 बजे हुई। सात लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है, और मुख्यमंत्री ने आपदा की जांच के लिए एक विशेष जांच दल (SIT) का आदेश दिया है।
