Man Arrested for Wife's Murder, Staging Suicide in Odisha

A 29-year-old man has been arrested in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district for allegedly murdering his 23-year-old wife and staging her death as a suicide. The victim's mother filed a complaint alleging dowry harassment and torture since the marriage in 2023. Police suspect the accused murdered his wife on Sunday night and hanged her body to mislead investigators. The body also showed multiple injury marks. The accused faces charges of uxoricide and cruelty under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Dowry Prohibition Act.

ओडिशा के जगतसिंहपुर जिले में एक 29 वर्षीय व्यक्ति को अपनी 23 वर्षीय पत्नी की कथित तौर पर हत्या करने और उसकी मौत को आत्महत्या का रूप देने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया है। पीड़ित की मां ने 2023 में शादी के बाद से दहेज उत्पीड़न और यातना का आरोप लगाते हुए शिकायत दर्ज कराई थी। पुलिस को संदेह है कि आरोपी ने रविवार रात अपनी पत्नी की हत्या कर दी और जांचकर्ताओं को गुमराह करने के लिए उसके शव को लटका दिया। शव पर कई चोट के निशान भी थे। आरोपी भारतीय न्याय संहिता और दहेज निषेध अधिनियम के तहत पत्नी की हत्या और क्रूरता के आरोपों का सामना कर रहा है।
