Two Drinks Daily May Pose Higher Health Risks Than Believed

A new study published in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs challenges the long-held belief that moderate alcohol consumption is safe. Researchers found that health risks begin to rise earlier than commonly assumed, with no discernible benefits even at low intake levels. For men drinking over 6.5 drinks weekly and women over 7, the lifetime risk of alcohol-related death exceeds 1 in 1,000. This research suggests that the perceived safety of two drinks a day may need reevaluation due to increased mortality risks.

Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs
