Delhi HC Dismisses SpiceJet Plea for Extension on ₹144.5 Cr Deposit to Marans

The Delhi High Court has dismissed SpiceJet's application seeking an extension to deposit the first ₹50 crore installment towards the ₹144.5 crore owed to Kalanithi Maran and KAL Airways. The court noted that SpiceJet had undertaken to deposit the amount within 45 days, with August 27 as the deadline, but failed to do so. Justice Vinod Kumar stated that repeated extensions could not be granted, especially when the initial undertaking was not met.

दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट ने स्पाइसजेट की उस अर्जी को खारिज कर दिया है जिसमें वह कलानिधि मारन और KAL Airways को ₹144.5 करोड़ के एवज में पहली ₹50 करोड़ की किस्त जमा करने के लिए और समय मांग रही थी। कोर्ट ने कहा कि स्पाइसजेट ने 45 दिनों के अंदर रकम जमा करने का वादा किया था, जिसकी आखिरी तारीख 27 अगस्त थी, लेकिन वह ऐसा नहीं कर पाई। जस्टिस विनोद कुमार ने कहा कि बार-बार मोहलत नहीं दी जा सकती, खासकर तब जब शुरुआती वादे को पूरा नहीं किया गया हो।
