SC Panel Urges Action on Dalit Land Encroachments

An Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Scheduled Castes member has urged the Parvatipuram-Manyam Collector to take action against influential individuals who have encroached upon 12 acres of land in Chintalabelagam village. These lands, previously cultivated by scheduled communities, were forcibly taken, and official boards indicating government ownership were removed by the encroachers. The commission is receiving numerous complaints about similar land grabbing incidents across the state, highlighting a systemic issue of Dalits losing their land to powerful local figures.

आंध्र प्रदेश अनुसूचित जाति आयोग के एक सदस्य ने पार्वतीपुरम-मान्यम कलेक्टर से चिनतालबेगम गांव में 12 एकड़ जमीन पर कब्जा करने वाले प्रभावशाली लोगों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करने को कहा है। यह जमीन पहले अनुसूचित समुदायों द्वारा खेती के लिए इस्तेमाल की जाती थी, लेकिन इसे जबरन छीन लिया गया और सरकारी स्वामित्व वाले बोर्ड भी हटा दिए गए। आयोग को राज्य भर में ऐसे ही जमीन हड़पने की कई शिकायतें मिल रही हैं, जो दलितों की जमीन शक्तिशाली लोगों द्वारा छीने जाने की एक बड़ी समस्या को दर्शाती हैं।
