This transformation began with a local teacher's vision about 15 years ago, inspiring the entire community to take responsibility for their surroundings. Villagers formed a club, pooled funds for amenities like dustbins and solar lights, and women now clean the streets thrice daily. The village also discourages plastic use, smoking, and spitting, setting a powerful example for nationwide sanitation efforts.

ओडिशा के मयूरभंज जिले के बेबेजोड़ा गाँव ने कमाल की सफ़ाई हासिल की है, पिछले 15 सालों से पूरी तरह से कचरा और प्लास्टिक से मुक्त है। यह बदलाव करीब 15 साल पहले एक स्थानीय शिक्षक के सपने से शुरू हुआ, जिसने पूरे समुदाय को अपने आसपास की ज़िम्मेदारी लेने के लिए प्रेरित किया। ग्रामीणों ने एक क्लब बनाया, डस्टबिन और सोलर लाइट जैसी सुविधाओं के लिए पैसे जमा किए, और अब महिलाएँ दिन में तीन बार सड़कों की सफ़ाई करती हैं। गाँव प्लास्टिक के इस्तेमाल, धूम्रपान और थूकने को भी हतोत्साहित करता है, जो देशव्यापी सफ़ाई प्रयासों के लिए एक शक्तिशाली उदाहरण पेश करता है।
