Union Minister Piyush Goyal has strongly criticized the European Union's decision to impose a carbon tax on steel, warning it could increase the cost of living in Europe and weaken its industries. Speaking at the Berlin Global Dialogue, Goyal stated that the EU's carbon policies, import duties, and increasing regulations are burdening businesses and consumers. He highlighted that India, representing 17% of the global population, contributes only 3-3.5% to carbon emissions, while Europe's per capita emissions are significantly higher.

केंद्रीय मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने यूरोपीय संघ के स्टील पर कार्बन टैक्स लगाने के फैसले की कड़ी आलोचना की है। उन्होंने चेतावनी दी कि इससे यूरोप में जीवन यापन की लागत बढ़ सकती है और उसके उद्योग कमजोर हो सकते हैं। बर्लिन ग्लोबल डायलॉग में बोलते हुए, गोयल ने कहा कि यूरोपीय संघ की कार्बन नीतियां, आयात शुल्क और बढ़ते नियम व्यवसायों और उपभोक्ताओं पर बोझ डाल रहे हैं। उन्होंने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि वैश्विक आबादी का 17% प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाला भारत, कार्बन उत्सर्जन में केवल 3-3.5% का योगदान देता है, जबकि यूरोप का प्रति व्यक्ति उत्सर्जन काफी अधिक है।
