480 Acres at Historic Virginia Plantation Permanently Protected
Times of India · environment
Approximately 480 acres of land along the Potomac River at Stratford Hall Historic Preserve in Virginia have been permanently protected through a new conservation easement. This agreement, established with the Virginia Outdoors Foundation, aims to preserve the area's wildlife, historic landscape, and cultural resources. The land, known as the Kentucky Hills, was historically part of the Lee family's colonial plantation and is linked to notable figures like Robert E. Lee. The protection also acknowledges the history of enslaved Africans and African Americans who contributed to the site.
