Online Threats Not Immune To Law By Disputing Internet Claims: Karnataka HC

The Karnataka High Court has ruled that online threats cannot escape legal consequences by simply disputing internet claims. Justice M Nagaprasanna dismissed a plea by a Delhi resident accused of sending bomb threat emails to Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport and shopping malls. The court stated that the electronic medium cannot be a shield for issuing threats of violence. Even false threats can cause public fear and disrupt peace, requiring law enforcement to investigate thoroughly. The dismissal allows criminal proceedings against the accused to continue.

कर्नाटक हाई कोर्ट ने फैसला सुनाया है कि ऑनलाइन धमकी देने वाले इंटरनेट पर दावे खारिज करके कानूनी नतीजों से नहीं बच सकते। जस्टिस एम नागप्रसन्ना ने दिल्ली के एक निवासी की याचिका खारिज कर दी, जिस पर बेंगलुरु के केम्पेगौड़ा इंटरनेशनल एयरपोर्ट और शॉपिंग मॉल को बम से उड़ाने की धमकी वाले ईमेल भेजने का आरोप था। कोर्ट ने कहा कि इलेक्ट्रॉनिक माध्यम हिंसा की धमकी देने वालों के लिए ढाल नहीं बन सकता। झूठी धमकियों से भी जनता में डर फैल सकता है और शांति भंग हो सकती है, इसलिए कानून प्रवर्तन एजेंसियों को पूरी जांच करनी होगी। इस फैसले से आरोपी के खिलाफ आपराधिक कार्यवाही जारी रह सकेगी।
