Karnataka's government has initiated a comprehensive scientific study to address pollution in the Arkavathi river basin, which spans four districts. This integrated pollution assessment and abatement initiative involves 13 premier engineering institutions, government agencies, NGOs, and local communities. The six-month project will utilize geospatial mapping and water sampling at approximately 150 locations to identify pollution sources and develop remediation plans.
