Nobel Prizes 2026 Begin Today With Medicine Award in Stockholm

The 2026 Nobel Prizes commence today with the announcement of the medicine prize at Stockholm's Karolinska Institute. Last year's medicine laureates were recognized for discoveries concerning immune system regulation and its implications for autoimmune diseases. The medicine award is followed by prizes in physics, chemistry, and literature throughout the week. The Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences will be announced on October 12. Each prize this year carries a monetary award of 12 million Swedish kronor, equivalent to approximately USD 1.2 million.
